Scan-by-scan part-scale thermal modelling for defect prediction in metal additive manufacturing

نویسندگان

چکیده

A part-scale thermal modeling concept is implemented to predict defect distributions in additively manufactured components. Utilizing the principle of superposition, complete history builds can be simulated within time frame required for real physical builds, without spatial or temporal coarsening. Demonstrating on a component with typical laser powder bed fusion parameters, simulations show that addition power schedule, defects depend geometry, scanning strategy, and heat accumulation. The features governing formation at are analyzed, simple rule predicting presented.

Ultra-Precision Metal Additive Manufacturing for Thermal Management of Microelectronics

Thermal management of microelectronic devices is an ongoing technological challenge that directly affects device-level and system-level performance and reliability [1]. The fundamental process of electron transport in a transistor device results in dissipation of heat. This causes temperature rise, which in turn limits device performance. For most semiconductor devices, performance goes down wi...

Muscle perfusion scan for prediction of anticipated diabetic foot ulceration

Introduction:We evaluated the performance of muscle perfusion scan (MPS) to assess muscle perfusion reserve (MPR) for prediction of incident diabetic foot ulcerations (DFU). Methods: We recruited 41 diabetic patients without any history of DFU. Five mCi 99mTc-MIBI was injected intravenously during repetitive dorsal and plantar right foot flexions. T...

Spurious lung perfusion ventilation defect on planar ventilation-perfusion scan detected by SPECT imaging

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a preventable cause of morbidity and mortality which needs prompt recognition. Ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) scan is a well-established diagnostic test for evaluation of suspected PE. We report a 32-year-old woman with history of rheumatologic disease and acute dyspnea, who was referred for V/Q scintigraphy. The planar images revealed multiple mismatched defects through...

Metal Additive Manufacturing: A Review

This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of an important, rapidly emerging, manufacturing technology that is alternatively called additive manufacturing (AM), direct digital manufacturing, free form fabrication, or 3D printing, etc. A broad contextual overview of metallic AM is provided. AM has the potential to revolutionize the global parts manufacturing and logistics landscape. It enables dist...
